Punjab Safe Cities Project to improve law, order: CM

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab Safe Cities Project will play an important role in further improvement in law and order and controlling crime so this project should be furthered in a highly professional manner. He said there was no shortage of resources for maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of the people. He said use of latest technology was the need of the hour for curbing crime and making the cities safer. He said completion of this important project would not only help in controlling crime but also keeping a watchful eye on miscreants.
He was addressing a meeting through video link at the Civil Secretariat on Friday to review the progress on the Punjab Safe Cities Project.
The chief minister expressed satisfaction over the pace of implementation of the project and appreciated the performance of officials of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and concerned departments. He directed concerned authorities to immediately start recruitment of the staff for the Punjab Safe Cities Project and arrangements should be made in advance for the training of the officials recruited transparently. He said work on the project be carried out round-the-clock and achievement of the targets within stipulated period should be ensured.
Chief Executive Officer Punjab Safe Cities Authority Akbar Nasir gave a briefing to the chief minister regarding the pace of progress on different matters relating to the project. Inspector General Police Punjab, Provincial Secretary Home, MD Punjab Safe Cities Authority, senior officers and concerned officers attended the meeting through video link.
