Inaugural Ceremony of ASEAN Capacity Building Program at Punjab Safe Cities Authority Headquarters

Lahore, November 17
The ASEAN Capacity Building Program was inaugurated at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority Headquarters, Provincial Minister for Information Punjab, Uzma Zahid Bukhari, gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The event was attended by provincial ministers, the Punjab Home Secretary, IG Punjab, and representatives from ASEAN member countries ,MD Safe Cities Authority ,Chief Operating Officer and senior officials.

During the event, MD Safe Cities Authority Muhammad Ahsan Younis briefed the attendees on the objectives, operational framework, and advanced technologies of the Smart Safe City project. He explained how Artificial Intelligence, smart analytics, and modern monitoring systems are being utilized to enhance urban security and public safety

In address, Provincial Minister for Information Uzma Zahid Bukhari stated that the Smart Safe City project represents a revolutionary advancement in urban security systems, with the protection of citizens’ lives and property being the Punjab Government’s top priority. She added that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Safe Cities are laying the foundation for modern, secure, and smart urban centers. She further emphasized that the concept of a smart city is not possible without Artificial Intelligence, and that the Safe City project is highlighting Pakistan’s positive image globally through advanced technology.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar remarked that digital policing, smart analytics, and advanced monitoring systems in Punjab have significantly improved crime prevention. He noted that the AI model of the Safe City project serves as a role model for all major cities in Pakistan.

During the conference, specialized sessions on AI-based policing, smart surveillance, and smart traffic management were held, featuring advanced technology models, live demonstrations, and international best practices. Global experts recognized Punjab Safe City’s AI systems, alert mechanisms, facial recognition, and predictive policing modules as state-of-the-art.

According to the Safe City spokesperson, the conference will further strengthen technological cooperation between Pakistan and ASEAN countries and promote global collaboration through the exchange of advanced security solutions. The advanced initiatives of the Safe City project are expected to highlight Pakistan’s positive and modern image on the international stage.The conference will continue from November 17 to 21

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law & Order Khawaja Salman Rafique, Provincial Minister for Industry & Trade Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Home Secretary Punjab Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, ASEAN country representatives, international experts, and senior officials.
